Annotation
"Development of Instagram and TikTok-Based Learning Media on Qualitative Analysis Material of Group I and II Cations with a Multi-Representation Approach" covered the applicability of using TikTok and Instagram to teach analytical chemistry to high school students. Using a multi-representation approach that combines visuals, symbols, and audio, the researchers created engaging content, including videos and infographics. This study followed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), and the media content was tested on students in Malang, Indonesia. The results showed that the students found the materials engaging and effective for learning.

The article stands out because of its structured approach, using the ADDIE model to develop the social media-based learning materials. By gathering both qualitative and quantitative data, the researchers made sure their results were backed up by actual student feedback. Their choice to use TikTok and Instagram shows they really understand  how students think, making the content feel relevant and engaging. The multi-representation approach, shows the level of thinking that went their project.

This article offered insights into my goal of finding practical, research-oriented teaching methods using technology. While TikTok and Instagram can motivate learners by tapping into their interests, the study’s use of the ADDIE model resonated with me because I believe educational changes should be based on well-thought-out research rather than “flavor of the week” trends. Developing content that engages learners where they are, instead of relying on outdated or ineffective methods, is exactly what I aim to do. I think this project demonstrates a promising approach to making learners genuinely want to learn, rather than just “going through the motions.”
